For this year, we are putting back the Department of Development Journalism Seminar Series. To kick off the series, we had two professors from the University of North Dakota, USA as speakers. They were Dr. Stephen Rendahl and Dr. Richard Shafer. They talked about journalism and culture. Both have taught at UPLB as visiting professors.

We are grateful to Dr. Crispin Maslog, a retired professor from DDJ, for having invited the two American professors to our seminar.

Journalism and Culture ang topic nila. Di nga nagamit yung LCD. Kala namin may powerpoint show sila. Merun naman silang dala. Pero naging 'anything goes' yung seminar. Hehe. OK naman.

It was interesting and they were engaging speakers. They shared their observations of the Philippine Press having stayed here in the country a few years back (I'm guessing 80's hehehe) and how advancements in technology have changed the way journalists work. Next month si Sir Maslog ang speaker. =)

Airing the seminar online seems a good idea. I'll open that suggestion. It really is good to have these lectures "canned" for anyone who's interested.
